We Found A Baby!

CLICK HERE to support the cause.

Yes, we are finally near the end of the road. With three years and tens of thousands of dollars of IVF shots down the tube, the fallopian tube that is, we struck out into the dark and dreary world to adopt. Don’t wild children who need homes just run around the woods all the time? Lets just set a bear trap and land us a baby. Its actually not that easy. We thought we had been selected to receive a baby twice in the last year. Both times the birth mothers were “fake pregnant” with a mix of crazy thrown in. They both wanted to string us along for fun and attention. Who does that! It took a long long time for that kind of hurt to go away.

Things are different now. We are adopting...For Reals People! We now have a legitimate birth mother who has a real baby boy inside of her and she wants to have us adopt him. He will be arriving in a few weeks and its amazing.

Our adoption agency isn’t licensed in the state where the adoption will be taking place. So, we cant use our super super cheap church based adoption agency. We will need to do a private adoption through a third party in the state. So, that's why we need your help. The cost will be considerably higher than we had game planed for and we thought that making this little video and reaching out to our friends would be a good idea. Below we have listed the sum of the expenses we will or have encountered.

Here is a break down of the costs associated with the adoption:
  • $1000   Home study (to verify we are not hoarders).
  • $4000   Hiring attorneys in two states.
  • $2000   Travel expenses: hotel, gas, food for 14 days.
  • $2000   Hospital expenses during the birth.
  • Priceless   Matching baby name tattoos, duh!
Why would you donate? First, babies are awesome and they smell so so so good. Second, this is the end of a 5 year journey to have a baby and you all have been there the entire way. We wanted to share the entire experience with you. Finally, you can make a difference in this new baby boys life. We will be great parents. We know it. With your help we can do it together.

Sugar Lump...

Sometimes you think everything is falling into place then a big speed bump comes along and slows the entire process down. We think we have located a birth mom. We think that she is going to follow through with the adoption. The problem now is that our church based adoption agency doesn’t provide full services in the state where the baby will be born. Really???

So all this time we have been thinking that we would be using our super cheap church based adoption agency. The cost to use them is pennies on the dollar compared to what we thought we might have to spend with a regular adoption agency.  A week or two ago we got word that the agency is capable of doing all the things we need done except the legal work. The legal stuff is really the high dollar part of the adoption. It would have been nice to know this before we said yes to a girl in that state. Not that we would have turned her down. It’s just that with T back in school the last 3 years we thought we had (X) dollars to be used over (Y) amount of time allowing us to budget in the cost of the church agency  adoption. Now all those cost estimates are busted. We think we might have a way to fix the problem. Good thing we had some friends suggest an idea a while back.  Following that still small voice 3 months ago might be the solution to our problems.

Love with the Davies

Sugar Lump...

Happy Valentine's Day!!  I love cuddling with my family, watching movies & eating some 7-layer dip that Thomas made just for me :)  Have a great day with the person you love!  Remember, if you drop some food on the floor, don't worry, you can always let the dog eat it.

Baby Wall

Sugar Lump...

Things are definitely progressing quickly :)  The birth-mother & I talk or text every day. She is such a kind person. Since this thing seems like its going to happen we are trying to get everything in order.    I can't believe how much there is to do!!

I promised myself that I wouldn't start shopping until Sugar Lump had arrived but I need to be prepared. It's the Boy Scout's motto :)  Bottles, pacifiers, wipes, formula, diapers and sleepers are on the list. I can't believe how many variations of each item there are. If you can think of the need there is a product for it and it will usually have a weird name.

As you can see, Thomas was a bit overwhelmed with all of the choices.

Sugar Lump...

Date night at the gun range! I rarely get a chance to take my Glock out but T surprised me with a trip to the local gun range last Friday.  This range was an uninsulated ice box so the cold was affecting my shot. We had a blast anyway. I love to go shooting. I'm convinced this can be our couples "thing" if we can just find the time to do it together. I thought golf would be our thing but T says golf is boring and we should use our money for basketball tickets instead. I'm really pining for a 410 shotgun but that will have to wait. Later we went to get some Starbucks hot chocolate.  It was a great night out together. I saw this and thought it was cute reminder of the night. Bear T Shirt

As you can see; if a bad guy is standing in the upper left quadrant he should watch out :)

3..2..1.. Contact

Sugar Lump...

Guess what??  A real birth-mother has contacted us :)  We have been talking to her for a few weeks now & she is a REAL woman who is really pregnant.  I asked her to show me her stomach while we were Skyping and there was a definite baby bump.  I have so much apprehension about approaching a new mother. Having to shake off two crazy ladies in a row who try to trick you into thinking they are pregnant can make you very apprehensive about the next one to come along.

This birth-mother is a dream come true. She is so normal and sweet.  She has been a Godsend. She has done everything that we have asked her to do.  Is this for real??  Am I really going to get my Sugar Lump??  I feel this is going to work out but I I do not/cannot handle another scam!!!!

Thomas & I are working & doing all that we can in order to make this happen. For right now all I can do is hold my dog Chloe.  Please keep us in your prayers!

The road took us to Tennessee

Sugar Lump...

Thomas & I ended up visiting a civil war site in Tennessee.  My dad would be proud!  He is the biggest civil war buff that anyone has ever met.  He remembers phone numbers as dates in time.  Seriously I have seen him do this many times, oh Yes 567-1863, 1863 great year... such & such happened.  History was always my least favorite subject in school & my dad just couldn't understand why.

This was a lovely place to visit. This bridge reminded me of the book/movie The Bridges of Madison County.

Road Trip

Sugar Lump...

Last weekend T & I just needed to get away, so we took a road trip.  Virginia has been hit with snow, so the drive was beautiful. Thomas gets upset with me because I make traveling difficult :)  I HATE chain restaurants & the majority of fast foods. I'm a food snob.  However, Cracker Barrel calls my name.  I love eating breakfast food for dinner & their pancakes with hash-brown casserole is quite D-Lish.

Build A Bear

Sugar Lump...

What toddler doesn't love a stuffed bear?  I was meeting a very special person & I wanted to do something extra I made them their very own bear.  First you choose the special bear, then you stuff it, fill it with love, make it extra fluffy & then style it :) Can't wait to take my Sugar Lump to Build-a-Bear.
